in inland california area where they've had big problems with people working in way overheated warehouses, equipment that's not safe. this is what this is about. they've got a problem there. >> what the unions are doing, and again, wal-mart is not unionized, but the unions want the workers to walk out, they're focusing on this extra work that they have to do on thanksgiving pay, for which, by the way, they're paid double time and get all sorts of bonuses. >> yeah. wal-mart is facing a number of protests across the country. not just for overtime. there has been a push to unionize wal-mart the real issue is that wal-mart hires a lot of people from the grocery industry where they actually get paid less, they get less in the way of health benefits, and that's why you saw pass mark and others go out of business because they were running their business models right, employees were worst served than wal-mart serves their own employees. i'm not advocating for wal-mart. it will be a pipe dream to unionize wal-mart because you have to do it from store to store. >> the point is that times are tough

area, and along the coast of california, and it allows local organizations and agencies to leverage their local funds, and make those funds go even further through the application of state bond dollars. the conservancy had a great interest for a long time in improving wildlife habitat and public access to the san francisco bay here in southeast san francisco. we partnered with the bay trail, the port of san francisco, literacy for environmental justice, and many other organizations and agencies to develop the heron's head park, to build the heron's head eco center, and now to plan and construct the bike path and this really grand entrance to heron's head. it's completed a really critical gap in the san francisco bay trail which is a regional trail that circles the entire san francisco bay. it's about 300 miles of it are done of a planned 500-mile loop. for this project really fits perfectly with our vision to improve access to the san francisco bay and to the california coast, to restore wetland throughout the state and complete the trail in the bay area and i want to thank a fe

at the health center in san jose california. i am here to speak on behalf of gwen spriar and the american indian alliance. it was created in the 90's to provide voice to the community in santa clara valley and started by laverne robert and provides two annual powwows and numerous fundraisers. gwen has been part of the alliance for about 15 years now. gwen is a elder and retired from the american indian district titles four, seven and nine of the indian education act. she has moved beyond the limits of her duties for the families in her district. she spends time volunteers for all community functions that the alliance puts on. the families that she serves remember her fondly and all that she did for them. she offered her talents to powwows, food booths, graduations and dinners and let's watch a video on gwen stirrer. >> i am [inaudible] known as the keepers of the western door. they're on the western side of new york and they're the biggest of the tribes. i'm the one -- i'm the one that creeks that runs through our reservation now. indian community -- there was nothing in the begi

&t is looking at a number of proposed route s. one proposed route if approved by the california public utilities commission would involve submerged port property. this is a map showing the potential routes between portero substation and embarcadero substation. you see the submerged route in blue and enter the bay north of pier 30 and south of pier 28. go along a route that is very lose to the current trans bay cable route but several hundred feet away and then enter -- or leave the bay at 23rd street, connecting to a new substation right near the po tero substation. there are two other routes at&t is looking at you through the process. they're shown in red and green here. the big difference between the routes is submerged route would require construction activities along about seven city blocks whereas the other two routes would involve major construction activities along 40 city blocks . so it's a complicated project. it's an expensive project. it would involve about a 3-mile cable run either submarine or under ground. it would connect to a new 230 kv bus at the embarcadero substation, a
